Question regarding hauling hot mix asphalt.

    to keep asphalt from sticking we used fuel spray it all over the inside of the bed nothing would stick worked pretty slick

    I wish we could still do that...and get away with it. If it's a CalTrans job and they catch you spraying diesel it's an automatic sign-out.

    We have lined our tandem and tri axle asphalt dump boxes with 3/4 plywood using self tapping screws with a dab of caulking. Lasts about 2 seasons then have to replace the wood. Problem is, over time, all the holes in the truck bed. An alternative is 3/4 plywood covered in 1/16 metal sheet welded in place. Good for the life of the truck. Still can use plywood on the front and sides if they want, using 1 inch angle iron as framework to hold the plywood pieces. Those are easy to replace, just slide old plywood out and new pieces in.

    paving with trailers is fun....

    last quote a friend got for an asphalt liner and plywood for an 18’ body was $9500 IIRC, it’s a lot more the. A standard liner

    I’ve never heard of MA having issues with plywood, diesel is a no no (or atleast don’t get caught)
