Question regarding Labels and Placards

UN Numbers go on where possible with the loads Ive had. It really nails down exactly what is inside that box.

I agree that ordinary placards without UN Numbers are fine. However, I prefer to go overboard just a little bit.

I do not recall anything that allowed me to "Crayon" anything into diamonds in my time. I suppose I am grateful that we did not carry anything too exotic.

I think Ive said all I am going to say here and stay helpful. Anything more from me would not serve anyone. Ive been away from this too long.

 

RTFM? those are not bulk containers so numbers are not required. Flammable placards are allowed for combustible products (i.e. Diesel) so all you need is Flammable.

Better question is why is the shipper not providing the placards and able to answer these questions for you as required by hazmat regulations?

 

If either product is less than 1000 lbs, you dont need a placard for that particular product. You only placard HM that is over 1000 lbs. Thats with me assuming the total weight for both is 2200 lbs. If both are over 1000 lbs, you can use Dangerous Placards or use the individual placards for each. As for using home made placards, Id say you cant do that. The purpose for using the designated placards is so Law Enforcement/First Responders knows whats on that truck in case of emergency. There are certain products that have to be placarded no matter what amount you have. If you have 5000 lbs of any one product, it must be placarded with its proper placard, regardless to other Hazmat you may have. If you haul hazmat regularly, you should really study the hazmat section carefully. D.O.T. is tough on Hazmat.
