The PA state trooper was the one who said the ticket carried no points. Sounded too good to be true so I looked it up myself and she was correct. I didn't think for one second that FL would add their own points and I would hardly expect her to know or offer extra information about another state's practices.

OK, while you got accurate information from the PA Trooper as well as afterward online, you still got bad information as it relates to Florida, and in your situation, this is all that really matters. Let me explain why! A CDL holder only has ONE driving record. Don't get lost in that CDLs are all federal! They are ONLY federally regulated, however, they are state-issued and maintained UNDER the federal rules! That nice lady trooper should have told you what that nice Trooper in North Carolina told me on I 85 one night just out of China Grove. He said my ticket for speeding will carry points, BUT he could not say for 100% sure what Georgia will do. States are supposed to be reporting these things to the CDLIS. Some do some 100% and some don't. That ticket was from 2002 and was reported. I got another the same day Princess Di was killed in 1997 near Gastonia NC that has to this day has NOT seen the light of day. I got another ticket in New Mexico about 20 miles from the Arizona line headed east on I 10, that ticket has never appeared anywhere I have seen. ONCE a ticket gets reported to the CDLIS it then gets added to your home state DMV! There is a bit of a myth about points. In your case, PA can NOT assign points. I mean they can as it relates to the offense, but once that record gets reported to the CDLIS and then onto your home state THEIR assigned points are what gets added to your CDL. One more point and I will finish. It is my understanding this also works in reverse. IF you lived in PA and got this same ticket in Florida, regardless of what Florida does points-wise, once this gets reported to the CDLIS PA would not assign points. As I am NOT an attorney I suggest making sure you know about how these points work in regard to your home state before making a decision to pay or fight a ticket.Last edited: Oct 1, 2020

To the op, reading the other thread, getting a pa license and living in ny for the purpose of obfuscating your ticket/points on your record is illegal.
if you get into an accident, this will come up and you may be in trouble big time.
