    Your story changed throughout your post, first you said you hit something then drove 10 mins down the road then you pulled over and called, then later you claim you pulled over immediately and called people!! imagine your company will mark this as preventable and may have a rough way to go

    That is EXACTLY what LEOs look for, a change in the story. Like I said, we have the luxury of hearing all the details, but for the next employer, they may not have that chance to explain. Abandoned car or not, a company won't look at it that way.

    This is what I do for a living, owning a fleet and running it, you have to ask questions like an investigator.

    OK.

    I forgot to add one of the most important things to do here.

    Offer to pay for all damages: Parts and labor;

    Also $1000.00 to $1200.00 a day for every day the truck will be in the shop.

    If you do that it will take all the bad taste out of their mouth: Best case scenario, they might allow you to stay on board, or allow you to resign with a positive reference.

    You mentioned you’ve been driving for 10 years. I don’t know what your expenses are or how you’ve handled your money, but if you have a fat savings account, spend some of it here: It might make transitioning to the next carrier easier.

    The fact it was a CAR and not say, a dumpster changes this from property damage to a Motor Vehicle Accident. STBY, I guess...

    Not to mention that the safety director has probably seen his post as well (yes, company officers come here..), so you're toast, most likely.

    Don't worry, if nothing else, Western Express will hire you.

    Prepare to get fired. Terminal mgr / safety person are just going to get a statement , most likely shoe you the video , and say your done. Arrange for transport home , get yor stuff gathered . If your owed any money fine out from payroll or manger when it will be sent , same with any benefits u have ( 401 , vacation , cobra stuff ) make sure you have your exit package . Sucks , but thats what happens . Good luck
    By the way , give it a week or so to decompress before you start looking again if you can afford it.
