I have been to NJ twice and have never been to NY. I know some guys out of places like Knoxville and Loiusville that get up there, but not the city. Just depends on your location.
The EZ Pass works everywhere except Florida. The Florida based trucks have Sunpass too along with some of the trucks based down in south GA and AL. You could luck up and get a truck that has it.
Not surprised you're riding to Montgomery. I have never gotten a truck at my home SVC. Btw, you get paid for riding down there and anytime you have to ride somewhere with another driver

Averitt is a ok place to work for you can't have a beard or goatee and no tat's.First Fleet isn't owned by Averitt anymore, they are owned by the Wilson's and Kroger, and you have Quail Com and you have to run by it everything has to be on time with First Fleet.

Sounds like you are getting situated just fine. I was at your SVC wednesday. Stopped for fuel heading north.
I like fueling there. A couple miles off the interstate, but still more convenient than fooling with BHM.

I applied with Averitt for a 'peddle' position in the early '90s and was turned down; no explanation given. A co-worker with less experience and marginal driving/ employment records was hired - he was a neighbor of the terminal manager.

I applied again for a similar position in the late '90s in a different state and was hired as a 'casual - temp'. Worked two weeks as I was supposed to go out and buy my own pallet jack and hand truck - terminal dispatch seemed to be largely clueless too. I immediately went on to a better opportunity.:biggrin_255:

Sadly, that still happens today on the LTL side. Terminal managers have a lot of control and sometimes fill positions on their own, rather than post the opening on the job-line giving everybody a chance to bid on it.
I like what I am doing here, and it suits me perfectly.
Sorry you had a bad experience and I wish you well in whatever you are doing now.

Outstanding driver! Happens plenty when they pile it on near the end of the week.
Occasionally you will start strong and then fizzle toward the end.
Enjoy it while it lasts, and I hope it does. We went through some slow times for a while, but I'm glad I stuck it out.

    mule68 Thanks this.
