My Husband is trying to get onto Averitt, they just called for his diploma. Currently he is a OTR trucker who is gone for about 30 days at a time. Just curious about the runs out of Lubbock ,
Unless he volunteers to stay out two weeks, he will be home every weekend. If he is on a load not going through Lubbock near the end of the week, they will have him drop it at a terminal and give him a load coming home, or an empty trailer. I'm in my fourth year and have never missed a weekend. I have no idea what kind of freight they have out there, since I rarely get that far west. I took a load from Georgia to Abeline once and picked up a load of cotton in Lubbock, coming back to Georgia.
They advertise 850-1250 per week, does this sound accurate? The home time sounds nice..he is gone way too long now. Do they start the guys out w/ a trainer? He has 4 years as a OTR truckdriver. Thanks for all your information..
Yes, that is pretty close, and no trainer. After orientation, he will come back home for the weekend. If a truck is not available at his home terminal, he will have to ride with another driver to another terminal to get one. He will get paid for those miles.
Thanks for the info. If he just did a physical for his current job, will he do another for Averitt? What's the hiring process like, we just sent off his HS stuff..what happens next? We are excited about the potential with Averitt. Though reading all the message boards I am getting a little nervous with how people are bashing the company.
Mustang GT, It will not allow me to respond to your PM b/c I havent done 50 of these posts yet...Are you willing to chat on the phone so I can ask more questions. I will not take up much of your time. If you send me your number in a PM I will call you. I do not want to post my number online. Thanks
