Howdy y'all. I'm not a CDL driver, but drive non-cdl straight trucks for a HHG mover only in state. I've been driving with them since May 2019. I have a vision condition where my left eye is 20/150 at its worst, but my right eye is 20/20, and combined I'm 20/20. My left eye does not severely effect my vision field, and I haven't had any CMV accidents. My eye doctor says corrective lenses will not help my eye since the problem is with how my brain processes the information coming from that eye, and not the physical eye itself. So there is no surgery I could get to fix this either. I'm trying to get my physical card so I can drive out of state on the rare occasion I need to, and I've failed twice only because of my left eye. I only drive around 4-10 hours a week, and would hardly ever go out of state.
I'm curious if anyone here has gone through the exemption process, and if I even have a chance of getting it. I'd eventually want to get my Class A so I can drive garbage trucks, but thats not looking like it will ever happen. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
