I got mine right after I got my Lisc.

Best thing ever for OTR, you can use the fast lane with empty trailers, it also reduces the question they ask, unless your company are known drug mules lol. The ability to haul hazmat across the border, gives most companies a huge boner for you. I used to haul Lysol products all the time at Bison, and mixed HAZ with LTL companies.

One thing to note, if you ever admit to using a drug, any kind of drug, ever, even highschool, you're done right then and there forever. So the answer to drugs is no/never/its against my religion/I'm allergic/etc etc.

Hold your FAST card out the window as you pass that little scanner thing on the way to the booth and your info pops up on their computer screen.

Since covid started they don't even look at my ace or id sometimes, just ask me to read the trip number to them. Zero contact is the idea I guess.

They have an interview window in mid July, I've just obtained my CDL license and started my Mentorship program, and I have my interview scheduled for July 14th in Fort Erie. I believe that you can still book an interview after completing your application

There is no interview for the fast card
anymore. Drivers applying on the US government site and this cost 50 US dollars .
There are two seperate fast card options , North and South .If you delivery to Mexico and back you need South one between Canada and US you choose North option .If you heading from Canada to Mexico and back you need both each cost 50 US dollars .For South Your need to go for person to person interview.
Important ,you only apply on Government site , otherwise you will paid much more and it's safer .Fast card is very convenient ,becouse you are in the system ,and your lincece plate is matching your fast card .
I don't delivery many fast loads but it's helps in general and you have to have to go with Hazmat.
I have to admit that I was extending my card ,no interview required and card was mailed very quick to me .I don't know about new applications rules but the website will tell you if you need an interview by pointing the locations if not means no worries

Interview is only if you have never had a fast card before, or have violations on your file.
