My bachelors degree is in music education. However, I will be honest, I am pretty certain that I am no longer qualified to work in any job in education as a result of those misdemeanors. Beyond that, I have actually never really been able to find a job of substantial quality in that field. I will contact our employment office and ask how would I apply for the wioa grant. I am just not looking to try to do this for another year because of the reporting probation. I know I couldn’t realistically get a truck driving job that crosses state lines until the probation becomes non reporting.

I’m going to be honest too- I’m a bit intimidated by the cdl process! I’ve been watching videos on pre checks and the actual driving and I have no mechanical background and have never driven a truck. I’m willing to study as much as necessary but I just wonder if I would be “smart” enough to pass!! Do any of you know anyone who didn’t really have the background but learned to truck? I’m probably asking the weirdest questions!!

I’m a Former CDL instructor at 160 Driving Academy in Kentucky and Ohio
We often had students who couldn’t tell a tire from a trailer and they are successful CDL holders now, look on this site study the CDL Manual from Ohio take all the tests on this site OVER AND OVER AND OVER and be ahead of the curve when you get to class

Since you are from Ohio/Kentucky, what are your thoughts on Butler Tech’s cdl program? And also, do you think I have any shot at getting employed if I am successful at getting a cdl with the three misdemeanors and poor employment history? I am very much trying to fix my life. I have made a long series of horrible decisions and really do want to rectify.

Ohio WIOA Program might have Butler Tech as a school they pay for.

I am trying to find an email for Ohio Means Jobs through my county to ask about the WIOA grant. Just to see what steps are involved and if it’s something I can get. Yes, if they can pay for the schooling that would be ideal.

As others have said the industry sucks for people with impeccable records and years of experience now were it will be in 365 days is anyone’s guess, the pendulum always swings
My only problem with Butler Tech is they teach single screw day cab with pip trailers, maybe little easier to test on but what are you gonna do when you get to a company that has a conventional tractor trailer (meaning they have a sleeper on the back and the trailer is 53’ long) yes you will learn a Class A CDL vehicle but the full size trucks back differently and go around corners different. I can’t tell you personally who is the best CDL school so just search around also LISTEN and stop beating your self up, you will find sympathy on this sight minimal, you screwed up you are paying for the screw up and then move on, tons of great information here IF you are willing to listen and take the free advice

also decide what kind of driving your Interested, you wanna see all 48 states and want little LONGER runs then Refrigerator (also called Refer) trailers may be your thing, do you have a strong back and wanna get a good work out and enjoy being outside then flat bedding (or skateboarding) maybe your thing
    Look around the site
Go up the street to the flying j (there is one in Franklin Ohio Mile marker 36 off I75) and just look at all the trucks and companies, cautiously approach the driver and explain that you are thinking about getting into trucking and would like to ask a few questions! Ask them about a typical day etc
