It’s best you check with your local dmv. Most schools do background checks and would t accept liability for the recent convictions.
I have been to 2 cdl schools and even if they let you start, when you go to the DMV for testing, they will find all the skeletons in the closet. Just make sure everything is completely settled and nothing is owed in any state. Child support, parking tickets, unpaid legal fees etc. These all will come back to haunt you. Don’t pay all the money for a CDL if you can’t get a license from things that are in your past. Insurance is the main thing here. There isn’t a school that can look the other way, legally. They have to abide by their policies so you can get behind the wheel.

Rumpke would be perfect actually. They service the Cincinnati area. I used to see their trucks in Oxford, OH every time I went to go pick up my daughter or see friends around the 513. One of my coworkers told me about the history of the Rumpke family on our way up to Ohio.

I'm glad that I got my CDL 4 years before I was placed on Child Support. Been paying it for over a decade and I haven't been in the arrears in over 5 years. Yay "me"

I was out of driving for 16 years and I wanted to get back into driving again. I found a program that pays for CDL license through KCEOC. It is in Kentucky but they paid all except for my permits and DOT physical. I do believe it was a WIOA program. It was not the best CDL school but they taught enough to get your 'A' CDL. They had a few 19.yo. students and they had never been close to a truck or even knew how to shift a manual stick and they both made it through the training. So, Tarabridge5482 don't be afraid of taking going to a CDL school to get your license. They will usually make sure you graduate.

    Just throwing this out there......

Cincinnati Metro is hiring bus operators.

You should be able to keep up your po reporting. Your po might also be able to assist in getting this job.

True, it's not class A, and will be no help to you in getting a class A job, BUT.....It will cost you nothing, they train you from square one, you will build a steady work history, and will get more comfortable behind the wheel of a large vehicle in city traffic.

I drove a city bus for a year and a half, (not in Cinci) then transferred over to the mechanical department because they said they'd train me to be a mechanic. Well, they forgot to mention that I had to get in line behind all the guys with more seniority, and in the meantime I could join the mechanical department as a bus cleaner/fueler until it was my turn to slot into mechanical helper training.

Anyway, I found bus operator work to be challenging, infuriating, dangerous, entertaining, and ultimately very interesting. Kinda wish I'd stayed with it, I'd be drawing my union pension now.

Also, Columbus is hiring, too, and they pay better.....

ODOT needs seasonal plow help, too.

    Check their website.

Almost every CDL school will be happy to take your money even if they think you won't get hired. Your work history may be a bigger obstacle. Do not go to CDL school until you have an employer willing to hire you. A CDL and not working for months after completion may require a refresher course, which costs money. Misdemeanors are not a huge problem. But your application is less desirable than someone with steady work history & clean record. You really need to find the employer who says they will hire you before you go to school. School is a formality. You learn 95% of this job from your first employer when you ride with a trainer for 2 months. There's no harm in applying for company sponsored CDL school because they put you to work when school is over. If you don't complete 12-18 months of work you have to pay for the school.
