The only difference is that some of those are convection (oven) microwaves. They have an electric element in them like a residential oven. They put them in some RVs so they don't have to also put in a regular oven (saves space).
That type is a lot more expensive but a heck of a lot of RV's have the same cheap Walmart style basic microwave these days. There is no magic in how any microwave is made.

Buy a roll of aluminum foil. Wrap your food in it, put it on the exhaust manifold, drive for around an hour, pull into a rest area, walla!! Meal is done!

I had a Walmart $60 micro I bought maybe 4 years ago and still worked when I sold the truck
Held down with a factory Velcro type strap
I also bought a tabletop skillet. The ones with a dial for temp and a small cube freezer to store extra food I would prepare at home
Worked great
Just couldn’t run the skillet and micro at the same time -
Where did you get this idea, the worst thing that happens is the inverter toasts the control board or pop the all important hv diode.

I've had the same WM microwave through 3 trucks and for 11 years ... Thing is bullet proof.

A lunch box cooker, camping stove and a Hibachi, are also ideal for when you have time to actually cook fresh foods. You can purchase all three for under $100.00!

I bought the smallest (and cheapest) microwave WM had. I think i paid $49 for it. It has been bounced in my truck for six years now. No problems. Just make sure you get one with the smallest wattage you can find. Mine is 700 watts. Microwaves are really hard on batteries.
I store a plastic container in it to prevent the glass plate from rattling when I drive.ncmickey Thanks this. -
It’s funny that we all hate that glass plate rattling around! Lol

900w from wallyworld, 5 years in this truck now. Put a piece of pine on top of my fridge, have a small ratchet strap holding it down. The glass plate rattles inside so I have a towel I put under the plate, just pull it out, set the plate and go.
