When I cross into Canada this " off duty" thing pops up. What does it mean and what those numbers mean. Someone educate me plz
We require 36 hours for a reset and can't run off recaps for more than a couple weeks without a certain amount of off duty time. Something like that causing conflict?
I left home after 40+hrs weekend, and on Wed I've got 2 violations. Both times after I've stopped. First time it went away after around 30min, and the secend time it was at the end of the day. And to make things more interesting next day it didn't show any violation. Weird
Also you must have 10 hrs off duty in a 24 hr period that must more then 30 min intervals and of course one consecutive 8 hrs. That can screw you up if say yesterday you took 9 hrs off from midnight to 9am ran your ### off till 8 pm took an hour off ran a few more hrs till you drove 13 hrs, shut down for 8 and tried driving say 8 hours with out taking an hour off that could possibly be a violation.
I use something called Samsara. When I cross into Canada additional circle pops up. It's called off duty, and shows numbers that look like hours and minutes, but they don't change like all other. Twice it showed me in violation, but showed nothing at the end of the day.
It's because in Canada your ELOG runs from midnight to midnight unlike the US which solely runs on OFF duty hours. You have to have minimum 10 hours off in the 24 hour window. That off duty tab that pops up while on your canadian log is telling you how much "off duty" time is required to complete your 10 hrs off in that 24 hour window. Hope that helps
