The weight of the entire vehicle, trailer, and load combined is what makes the determination of the license type needed. That weight also determines whether you need to go through the scales or not.

just call it car hauling with a 2500 = 3/4 ton 3500 = 1 ton truck as for brakes its has hydraulic brakes as for what the other guys are saying they're right if u go over 26,000lbs ur considered CDL"A" license which means u also have to bide by HOS regs and all that jazz ur considered in DOT's eyes a tractor trailer not to mention u must also carry very good auto hauler insurence last i heard 1,000 coverage. its not an easy buisness to get in to hope this helped check with CHp to be sure of everything because if u dont and ur wrong about something that means big fines and big issues down the road

Add a few zeroes . Auto hauling requires $1 million liability . Oops . See you caught it .

GVWR is Gross Vehicle Weight Rating . That's the total for the weight and trailer . A trailer with a GVWR of 24,000 that weighs 6,000 lbs. empty has a load capacity of 18,000 lbs . GCWR is what a truck can haul including the weight of the truck and trailer . The GCWR of an F450 is 33,000 lbs .
