If you can't get Mason then ask for Jeff B. because he is really good too. That is my recruiter is and everything has been great so far.

Yeah, the guys and gals in recruiting will be happy to tell you exactly what you need to do to transition to Maverick. The tuition problem may still remain... however, if he NEVER signed anything stating that he would owe that money if he left CRE, I don't see how they could legally hold him to it. But I'm willing to bet it's printed on something he signed, seems like that would be a HUGE oversight on their part.

I left USA Truck to come to Maverick. When doing so, I broke my contract with them and ended up owing almost $6,000 in tuition. Every Saturday, when they take their automatic withdrawal of the payment, I smile, because working for Maverick is going to be worth every single penny.

It sounds like your husband is a good fit for flatbed. If he loves moving around and doesn't mind hard work, he'd probably be very happy doing it. Flatbed may start out at a bit less per mile, but they tend to get more miles than TCD because they don't wait to be unloaded as often or as long as we do. Most flatbed drivers I talk to consistently bring home more than I do as a TCD driver, and they're home every weekend. I have all the respect in the world for the guys that can do that... it woulda killed me by now if I had done it lol.

Not to mention that if he sticks with Maverick for a year, he'll be eligible to enter the IC program, where he does a lease-to-own on his own truck, and gets a lot more freedom and a lot more money, if he chooses to do that. I'm going to be looking into that for TCD in the next couple weeks to get the ball rolling.

Maverick is a great company and treats their drivers very well. Is it all sunshine and rainbows? No. Is your husband gonna get so mad sometimes he wants to throw that Qualcomm out the window? Yup. But when it all comes down to it, you couldn't really ask for much better in the overall grand scheme of things.

I can't wait to hear from you after you call recruiting and get some details! Let us know how it goes!

Well, I don't want to be seen as "bashing" another company. I am sure that some of their drivers feel they are great/fine/whatever for their situation. More power to 'em! I will say that they seem to have very nice and well maintained clean trucks and trailers. Their equipment looks great. Seriously.

No, not even any traffic citations. Worked as a cop for 12 years so no criminal or civil record. Good on the work history and no drugs not even prescription. Start cdl school April 22nd and it's 4 wks long I believe.

Well...I called and didn't get ahold of anybody but got on the online chat and Mason came on and I talked to him. he said they had openings for the US Flatbed division which would mean he'd be home every weekend or pretty close to it. He gave me all the details, they sound really good. Talked it over with hubby and he really likes them and liked everything Mason said. Only dilemma we have now is this...hubby is on the road and will be for about a month with CR. He has no way to fill an application out until he gets home and he may not get home until his Phase 2 is over. If he waits until Phase 2, then applies to maverick it may take a couple weeks to get everything processed and there is the chance he won't be accepted although I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be. I'm afraid if we wait until his training is over at CR they won't have any positions open at maverick and then he'll be screwed lol

Find your best window of opportunity, and "pull the trigger" on the process. Tell Mason I said HI! :biggrin_25525:

I think as soon as he is done with his training at CR and they allow him to come home to switch his license over he'll quit. But then we'll have however long it takes to get everything settled at maverick where he's not getting paid. That will put us in a bind again. I wish hubby had a laptop so while he;s waiting at the truck stop while his trainer goes home he could do the application online lol. Then everything would be processed and ready by the time he got off the road possibly.I've heard from other CR people that they try to stretch Phase 2 until the student caves and agrees to lease. Hubby said if they do that he'll just quit on the spot if he's got his 10,000 miles in and they still want to keep him out there. They have to turn him loose within 60 days though to switch his license here. He loves driving though. He doesn't like that he has to spend so much money at truckstops because his trainer doesn't have anything in his truck. So far CR hasn't paid him anything either and he's just about out of money for food.
