If your talking about maintenance escrow then I guess if you want to call that spending thats your perogative but I call it saving for a rainy day like what happened in Dallas couple weeks back. St the end of the lease that money which isnt spent comes back to me.
I will agree with you, call it saving for a rainny day. but I read where you said they take 12% out for maintenance and you said you never cap out on your account. So I just pick the number of 12,000 a yr. then if you never cap out then you are spending it ? I was just wondering how much you do spend in maintainance a yr. ? ? ?
You never cap out because theres always something like a blown tire oil change etc. I get real close once in awhile though. My actual maintenance, well I'll have to get back to you on that after I check my p&l statement.
Thanks Dan I just wondered what maintenance cost on the newer trucks were. Last time I owned a truck was in the 90s and with all the electrical and EPA requirements on the newer trucks I was wondering on cost.
Lookin at my P&L for last year I spent $10400 on maintenance,I drive a 2007 KW so my maintenance will be little higher due to being a little older and the fact the previous owner had crappy maintenance practices. I replaced all my tires, couple of sensors(same one keeps goin bad, just an acert thing),a windshield, another fuel leak(from bad maintenance practice of previous owner),water leak plus normal oil changes etc. Id say my tires where about almost half that expense plus I had Centramatics put in each axle.
Thanks Dan I guess I was pretty close on my guesstimate. Wish you the best and hope all the gremlins are out of that truck now. Were those Melton trucks I heard they were. Or was that just trucker BS
Yeah old Melton trucks. I usually dont need tires but every other year so that extra expense can actually be divided over two years.
Does Maverick have a truck age limit for independent contractors? what about tractor weight limit? thanks in advance for your response.
I think its 5yrs or newer when you first sign on but after that I think it doesnt matter as long as you keep the maintenance up. There is no weight limit per se except that you must be able to haul a minimum of 48k on their aluminum flatbeds. I run a 2007 KW T600 with dual 120 gallon tanks and I tip the scales at 31500 full of fuel with one of their flats. They are getting new flats that are about 1k lighter supposedly though I have yet had the pleasure of pulling one to know first hand. They also put o/o on TCD (reefer) now but I know nothing about weight limits or compensation on that side yet.
I was told that you have to lease one of mavericks trucks first. Then after you are in the system they would consider letting you bring your own truck.
