Thats the part that makes no sense. Why is it ok AFTER you lease a truck? Theres no logical reasoning to a policy like that. I'll stick with my original answer. It may just be they are yanking your chain for some reason. A policy that makes no sense like that usually means its not the policy just driver lore. Theres a lot of that on the IC side for some reason.

I asked about it a couple of years ago...and was told I would have to get one of their trucks...then proceeded to laugh him plumb off the phone when he quoted me the price of the already 1/2 worn out truck that had already paid for itself once...I found it funny that he was expecting me to pay nearly what Maverick pays for them new (over $50,000 for a Freightliner with almost 600,000 miles...LMAO)
JimTheHut Thanks this. -

Jimthehut I will ask Joe next time I talk to him about what you heard. Until then any drivers interested in bringing their own trucks over Id advize you to call recruiting. Im still seeing Maverick ads in owner operator truckstop books so I'll assume they are still hiring o/o's. It maybe they are just getting a little more picky about trucks.

Hey Dan,
I worked for Maverick and left about a year ago. Been rolling the thought of getting into my own truck and am considering doing it with Maverick. You seem to be making money, when i left i was running dedicated for AK steel and was clearing aprox 700wk and home every weekend. How often do you go home? I have wife and kids so thats a big one. I live in Akron, Oh. Do they still run alot of loads out of Ft. Smith to Cleveland Akron area? What are fuel prices like for you with the discount? What kind of upfront expenses will i have with leasing a truck through Maverick? -
If memory serves correct your fixed expenses on the Cascadias should be around $550-600 (dont let that scare you, these are very low mileage trucks with APU's) and when I say fixed I mean truck payment, insurance, permits etc. Your only variable will be fuel and the 12% maintenance which is 12% of linehaul only. However when I gave you my average after expenses that is after everything before Maverick cuts a check to your settlement. Some guys will bs ya and say they are taking home a lot more per mile but unless they have their truck paid off they arent. I think at least for me anyway that 60cpm is decent since I can call my own shots when or if I need to. Only way to make more is to go it totally alone 100% owner operator and pray you can get and keep customers and that they pay their bills. Any questions feel free to ask.
