No loads are fcfs, first come first served. Most loads pay well,Maverick doesnt like cheap freight any more than I do.

With fuel prices going up to new highs, how is that affecting your
bottom line? Thats what is keeping me from jumping in right now.
    Also, are settlements paid weekly?
If you have a mechanical breakdown on the road do you have fleetnet or do you find your own tow/repair shop?

Mavericks fuel surcharge increases with the fuel price and they get great fuel discounts. What you see on your fuel ticket isnt what you actually pay. You actually pay less. A $400 fill up may only cost you $350 for example. Yes we are paid weekly. Yes I use fleetnet for breakdowns, but you can use your own shop. However (and this is one of the small things I grumble about) if you dont go thru fleetnet you must pay out of your pocket first then fax Maverick the reciept to be reimbursed from your naintenance account. THEY WILL NO LONGER ISSUE A COMCHEK FROM MAINTENANCE. You can thank those who abused the system with repair requests that were fake to get money from their maintenance account.

But if I do I think I want to go IC. Can I give you the referal when I talk to the company? Who do I say I chatted with or pass along a truck number or do you have a handle?
    Thanks

Dan, do you ever plan to buy out your truck, or just lease another one?

Unless I get a wild idea,no I wont buy it out. I like the benefits of leasing. Keeps me in a good truck and I can qrite off the entire payment which is something you cant do if you go to a dealer and buy a truck.

    JimTheHut Thanks this.

Last four weeks avg per mile $1.766 Pretty decent considering I had a week where I ran a couple of lower paying runs and that week my average was under $1.60/mi. This is for all miles deadhead and loaded.8207mi $14494gross. One week was a short week due to time off.

I may be mistaken, but you can deduct all of your expenses....you just have to do depreciation on the truck vs writing off your lease payment.

After a truck is that old there wont be much depreciation left to write off. Maybe a year at most. So I just lease another truck to maintain as new a truck as possible. Maintenance will start to eat you alive if you try to run an older truck.
