Oilfield pays high but you have to live near a hiring area or relocate. Schneider pays salary from what I understand and you might need a year exp before they'll hire you. You can always call and ask a lot of questions

endorsements don't help your pay. they just expand your options to better paying jobs maybe.

i have tank and hazmat and doubles. i make just as much as everyone else. when i worked for a local construction company. driving double bellies. i made the same hourly wage the guy driving a single dump truck made.

i've never used my hazmat. never seen any jobs that require it. but when i dropped it. then there were jobs. put it back on. no jobs. go figure.

tanks pay the best but they require some extra skill in driving.

endorsements are good to have for job flexibility. and they are cheap to get and keep. the hazmat being the only expensive and PITA to keep.

everyone takes a different path in where they work with their cdl.

You either are lucky enough to start with a company that cares if you succeed AND has the ability to teach you to do so, or you get with a "starter" company and fight like mad to make a living. Some people just want it more and they refuse to give up. You watch every gallon of fuel, you evaluate your trips, your stops, and your hours. You communicate better or find a DM you can actually communicate with. I don't know why people say we don't make money. We don't make ENOUGH money, but even on my bad weeks now it's around $14/hr take home. Great weeks are over $20. My truck runs well and I'm burning the rubber off my second set of tires. When I started out, I got three months behind on my house, my bike, and various personal debts. It was scary with the first few months, but I pushed through it. I made phone calls, juggled funds, and learned how to increased that bottom line. I made $36K last year. Part of that was before driving, $10K. This year, I'm doing a little better. In life you'll get out what you put into it. So many people "deserve" to be treated better or paid more... Lol, and they won't ever do a thing to make it happen. Good luck to you.
