I appreciate the input everyone. We left Des Moines at 2300 last night bound for Indy to pick our trucks up from the terminal. We got here at about 0600 and began the process of inspections and checking out gear, getting permits in order etc. My truck has two problems that need to be fixed before I can get on down the road. Unfortunately it's 2145 and I'm still sitting here waiting for my truck to get in the shop. I've slept exactly 5 hours since Monday morning and my patience is wearing thin. I'd love to get some sleep but there is nowhere to sleep here, and with any luck at some point tonight my truck will get brought into the shop so sleeping in the truck is pretty much a no go. I'll update if and when my truck is ready to go.

Hi, I just left TMCs website and looked at their hiring are and they dont hire in Louisiana any more completely. They use to hire along I-10 throughout but dont anymore. Can anyone follow me up on this. Thanks and be safe.

I had to do the same thing, wait forever to get my truck worked on. Be patient it will get better when ur finally on your own. -
They did finally get it in the shop at 0230, it was done in a half hour. I was lucky enough to catch a brokered load later that day though.

When a driver turns a truck in, would'nt it make more since for the shop to go over it and fix what needs fixing, rather then put it off until it is issued to a new driver?

Fratsit Thanks this.

Hmmm....homemade comes to mind. Just find the length of the average XM antenna and use whatever. Should recieve inside the truck I'd imagine

You would think so Fratsit, but I had completely filled up my write up page, and a couple of the problems were DOT issues. They do nothing aside from remove whatever the other driver had in his truck. Hell my truck didn't even have tarps, all of the straps were wound inside out by what I would have thought was a ticked off fired driver (not the case, I read the message on his QC telling him they got him a long nose Pete so in this case he was just a dick). The satellite thing was an issue for me too, I've got an '04 Pete with 470,000 on it and I had to run an antenna myself although it is against company policy to do so, so maybe I didn't...

I took my truck in last friday and had to clean it out since i was taking a week off. came back today and was assigned a different truck. What a mess. Previous driver must have been a terrible chain smoker. Truck smelled like an ashtray and burn holes all over the place (dash, door panels, carpet, etc...). Also has 15,000 more miles than my previous truck which was still parked next to it and hadn't been touched since i dropped it off. I wanted my old one back and was told no. I would take what was assigned and didn't have a choice. All my old truck needed was a front tire. This new piece of crap needs a new windshield, the fuel gauge reads empty and the tanks are full and some other minor things. The trailer I am picking up also needs work but I wasn't told what. Spent all day in Gaston waiting for nothing. They never touched the truck or trailer. Will head back to the terminal tomorrow and play the waiting game again. I am really getting tired of the service managers acting like you are inconviencing them. The guy on second shift did talk to me and made me feel like he cared and was going to make it right. Really enjoy my FM and others I talk to on the phone but hate going to the terminals and dealing with service managers. TMC used to care about its drivers but now treats them like poo. Still debateing on wether to even go back tomorrow or start looking around local. Enjoy running longhaul but getting tired of being treated like a number. I also know the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
