Hey everyone,
I just want to say thanks for the insight on here regarding trucking. I'm currently in training with US Xpress and I'm training on a Family Dollar account. While I can do the work I really wanted to do OTR but my trainer keeps telling me "with US Xpress there's no money in OTR." Has this been anyone else experience? My trainer and I live near Tallahassee and idk if that's the reason but he was saying that many drivers just sit waiting for loads. I do have hazmat, tanker, doubles and triples as well as my twic card. Would this also help me stay moving to get miles? Personally I would like to be on another account when I upgrade but my trainer is insistent that I will do well on the family dollar account.

You're in dry van probably, so your pay will always be low.
Check out Indian River for tankers.

You very likely qualify RIGHT NOW for Prime, Inc's floral fleet
-- especially since you're already in FL.
Drive for a fleet that runs on "flower power".
Besides....it's so totally macho.

I can only imagine how much fun you will have this summer unloading trailers in Florida.
If your gut is telling you to switch gears, maybe you should listen up.
If standing in line, burning your clock up and sitting for hours is your thing then check out reefer work. Oh and burning up more time and aggravation getting washouts, lol.
If you want to be in and out at pickup and drops with lots of miles then Dry Van is the way to go.

Stay where you're at, for awhile at least. Too soon to start job hopping. Talk with other U.S. X drivers to see how much $$$ they making.
