I get it. They were one of the few that would take me out of school. I understand this is a starter company.

When my dad was a driver he loved reefer work. I think US XPRESS pays for detention pay and everything.

Yes!!! My recruiter had me for OTR out of north Florida and I still see jobs on their site for this in my zip code. I also joined us xpress because they are a starter company. My goals are not to stay here long term. What are the hours for reefer anyways? I'm seeing a lot of people talk about this on the forum. I have doubles and triples as well for my endorsements. I got everything except a passenger endorsement. As for flatbed that's what I really wanted to do!!! I was sold on TMC but they would never contact me back.

Reefer hours are usually deliveries in the wee hours.
Lots of night driving also, which I loved.
Some gripe that reefer work is too stressful, but I thrived on it.
Only reason I left reefers was curiosity about hazmat tankers. That was good also, for me.
Ran 48 states and Canada pulling hazmat tankers.

If you pull a reefer, many, many shippers won't reload you with a dirty trailer. The most effective way to get the inside of it clean is to go somewhere that washes out the inside of the trailer.

Can you just sweep it out? Sure. However, if you haul plants (flowers, etc) when you are empty, there may be 40 pounds of dirt on the floor. If your next load is beer, sugar, fresh or frozen chicken, beef, or pork, that shipper isn't going to clean out your dirty trailer for you. That's your responsibility.

Same thing applies if you haul fresh meat (think bloody, gooey, "juice" due to the ice or other liquids in the cases melting). No shipper wants to load on top of that. You have to clean it out via a wash out.

I had to get trailer washouts every now and then, pulling reefers. The driver doesn't do trailer washouts, but takes the trailer to places such as Blue Beacon or a dozen more places.
The company pays for that and pays for your detention time while the trailer is being cleaned.

Oh ok. As long as they get you in and out I can be fine with it.
