Its a toss up on the vans. Some of us do 3500 miles a week, some of us do 2000 miles a week.
Flatbed, however, isn't even something you should be considering. The division has got about 60 trucks spread over 200 trailers, last I knew when I was on it 2 years ago. Drop and hook is rare, and most of the trucks in that division are trainers, teams, and owner operators. Haven't met anyone in that division making money, and judging by the equipment, neither is werner.
Werner has been buying pretty much anything with a hood shorter than a pete 386. They have a huge wave of new trucks coming in this year and the next. They used to just stockpile new trucks in Omaha, but now it seems like everything but the hole in the wall terminals like allentown and indianapolis are being crammed full of new trucks waiting to be put into service. I heard they have their eyes on becoming a 7.5mpg company, and you can't do that with 5 year old trucks at this point, which is about the oldest they keep. -
Lots of brand new T660's in Springfield

I applied with Werner a week or two ago and have spoken with the same recruiter 3 times. Each time I've asked about the status of my application, but I've never gotten a yea or nay. He keeps askin how school is going, if there are any other questions he can answer for me, and for me to call him once I get the CDL.
So I guess my poll question is, who here think I should take it as a sign that I'm pre-hired and who thinks he's just bored and wants someone to chat with to kill the time? -
When do you graduate from school? It may be too soon to pre hire you.I would think if he was'nt interested, you would have known that a couple days after filling out app.

The course schedule says 30Apr12, but the lead instructor has told six of us that he might test us out early so the ones that are struggling with it can get more seat time. It could be as early as the 23rd, but he hasn't finalized anything yet.
I'm thinkin he must be interested because he's calling me. About half of the class started getting prehire letters/offers two weeks ago, before we even started the road portion of training. All I've gotten so far is a lot of phone calls telling me no. I figure this must be a sign that the economy is finally improving. For the past three years no one has bothered to call me back!
