And as far as the phone policy..just don’t text while on the drive line. That’s it. If that’s an impossible task, CRE is hiring. And as pointed out above, you’re only going to be asked to submit your phone records if you’re involved in an accident.

A driver I knew nearly got fired for violating the phone policy. His version was he got to a store and went on duty, there was a stack of pallets in front of the empty trailer so as he called the store as he was backing in and just then the store manager drove by and saw him on the phone and called the office and reported him. I know it's nit-picky but there seems to be no grey area. As well as the surveillance cameras some of the managers take a trip around back on their way.truckdriver31 Thanks this.

My goal is world domination using plutonium based weapons.
Benefit would be a world populated by cat women and sexy witches.
The money would all be mine.Lumper Humper, stevep1977, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -

Texasmorrell, I've always been a company driver so no change for me when I worked for WM but I knew an o/o who sold his trucks and became a WM driver he had a hard time sticking to the policies after being his own boss for a long time. He was an old fart like me and didn't like younger people telling him that he had to do things their way. He probably made more money but he certainly wasn't as happy. I didn't say this to put you off as I do know o/o drivers that came here and took to it like a duck to water. Good luck on your decision.
Just passing by, texasmorrell, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -
On the phone issue, I have a close friend that works for Walmart, and his solution is that he has 2 phones. One he tells Walmart about and one he doesn't. He told me this was a common practice with his fellow drivers.

I was told during my on-boarding/orientation, that the one sure thing that would get yourself fired, was to text when on the drive line. WM isn't going to fire you for most preventable accidents, most tickets, and just about any other self inflicted mayhem you cause. They will however cut you loose in a heartbeat for texting your girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse/dog/cat while rolling down the road. It's fairly straightforward. WM lets you know what they expect, and the driver decides if their job is worth it or not.Aamcotrans and truckdriver31 Thank this.

I guess the slip seat deal is why I’ve seen some million miler safety award stickers on some lousy operated trucks. Must be a newbie using a lifer’s truck or a lifer just in “f” this mode due to the bs.
D.Tibbitt and truckdriver31 Thank this.
