True, you can ask anything you want, but trucking is pretty basic. Accessorial pays are more important than cpm. With 20 yrs. experience I took a job that paid .36 cpm, but I "took home" well over a thousand a week because of good accessorial pays.

When your speaking to recruiters, pretend that your a Fox News person.
-
All you have to do is reflect on your own self - when you are not telling the truth.
You may look away for a split second as you are trying to formulate a response. And even that will reflect in a phone conversation.
Learning to read yourself is a key factor to judging how others are responding to you.
I am a skilled liar.
I did it for fun when I was younger, because it is SO easy to deceive someone if you keep a straight face.
Spock was the best liar of us all.
But most people are not that good at it. There are signs that you can see, if you watch for them. -

My number one question would be "Will you sign a document, with penalties addressed if the company will/can not keep your promises? You know, to compensate me for wasted time." Of course no one will, but the answer might tell you a lot about the company.
Jazz1 and TurtlesLikeI Thank this. -
And always find out how the recruiter is paid. The ones that are paid a salary with no commission or bonuses for getting new drivers, have no incentive to lie to you.

Some companies have flatscreen tv already installed with direct tv with many channels and sports channel and free to driver. Some charge a monthly fee for this same benefit.

Honestly if I had one thing I'd be looking for, it would be guaranteed pay. Meaning you make a guaranteed minimum of x dollars per week at a minimum, regardless of miles run. That way you won't be sitting on your ###. I haven't missed all the bells and whistles others are mentioning because I very rarely sit anymore now that I know how to get loads. And when I need to do a 34, I make good enough money to pay for a hotel room and have a few beers.
