One company I worked for gave us a choice during a 34 hr. restart; $50.00 or hotel room. I never took the hotel room because I liked the cash and was comfortable in the truck.

    pattyj and RedRover Thank this.

True, at least a 6-pack on a 34 restart. Pull all the curtains in the truck, set the temp just right, Satellite radio, relax.

I have never had the balls to bring a sixer in the truck. Seen too many posts here about snitches ratting people out and losing their license or being entirely unhireable. Just makes me too nervous. I'll pay for the room lol.

I do notice on Truckers Path that most of the reviews of truck stops include whether or not they sell beer. Just not sure how to get it in there without some ####### saying something. And I have a swift logo on my trailer, so you know they will lol

First off, what is it that you really want to do? If a company isnt in line with what you want to do, don't appy. It's a waste of time.

What does the average driver make? What does the top driver make? The guys on top usually make 1.5-2× average. If not, walk away.
With the new trucks and all the emissions crap, trucks stay in the shop more. Breakdown pay and motel are mandatory.

Average miles and truck speed. 10 speed owns a 9. If they expect you to run 55, and run 3000 miles at $.25/mile, walk away.

If you live out of any freight lanes, don't be adamant about home time. Unless you can find a company based in your area, you're screwed until you can jump ship.
