Well some tanker companies are easier to get on with than others. Schneider hires tanker drivers right out of CDL school. Some drivers are lucky and snag a tanker/hazmat job immediately out of CDL school. If you have all your endorsements in the beginning, you will be prepared when that tanker/hazmat job opening becomes available. The companies can't afford to wait a couple of months while you get the endorsements & TWIC and a passport if they do Canada runs. Many drivers on here have posted they got good tanker jobs right out of school, even though the companies websites said "experience required." A hazmat/tanker company I worked for required 3 years tanker experience, but yet hired 2 new CDL school grads because they needed drivers right then; those new drivers were just as good as the rest of us it turned out. We hauled mostly acid 48 states & Canada.

This is good advice , especially to someone from MA . The OTR carriers pay everyone the same low 1980's rates . A local company like a beverage or food supplier will pay wages closer to income needed in your area .

yes i work for TMC, but i don't get paid to endorse them or get any bonus if you join. I only suggest them because I am quite happy working for them.

I just got my CDL Class A with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements. I was thinking of trying to get onboard with Schneider's Tanker Division initially, but the recruiter form TMC who came into our 3rd party school, made a great presentation and has me thinking seriously about TMC. Honestly, the only question I have about driving flatbed for TMC is that the recruiter said that you take your truck "home" and have to find a place to park your truck/trailer loaded over the weekend. I even live in a heavy retail area with many strip malls and the like, and I never see anyone parking trucks there. I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who had a similar situation where finding a place to park your truck at "home" was an issue, and how you can overcome it. Thank You!
