I had several points typed out and then my computer told me to F off, so i will sum it up here for you Hurst.
It's not what you say, it's how you say it. You are talking down to me like I am an idiot. I've been driving since '07, and I have run a promotions business (booking music shows) as well as telecommunications sales. I would appreciate it if you would not use a condescending tone. You may not think you are, but you are.
Also, if I am dispatched using the internet and cell phones, they are a business expense. A portion of the rent and utilities can be as well if i am being dispatched from home - Home Office. This comes from a licensed CPA who has been in her field for well over a decade.

Great idea!!!! Do it!!!! (What you really came here to hear)
MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
I read everything to this point as a potential wannabe O/O as well and I did not read one thing that was condescending or should not have been read that way.
You ask truckers and truckers answered you. -
Go for it.
You are a idiot for thinking lease purchase. Greatwide is probably a bigger loser than CRST.
You worry about deduction, but you have to make a profit first, very unlikely the first year.
If you are on your own you keep your log's, which you audit and then send yourself a nasty gram if you make a mistake, the only time the DOT will see all your log's is when they come for a audit, they need to be correct.
Hurst is stating facts, trucks eat money, close margins and a low paying freight are setting you up for a bad ending.
What are your plans if you just leased or purchased truck takes a crap the first few weeks. How will you handle a big repair bill plus downtime?
You have sales experience, go out and test the market, you will find freight, low paying and slow pay. Can you wait 30 to 90 days for your money? If you don't know the market how can you quote a rate, you may low ball buy a $1.00 a mile and they will use you till your broke.
There was a company in OKC the had step deck freight that everyone was chasing, I saw different companies in there all the time, as soon as they ran up a big bill at one company they invited in the next one knocking on their door. They went out of business owing a lot of carriers money plus the city over one million. What I am saying is these shippers don't care about you or your business,
You can do it if you want, just don't be the guy in Houston that was trying to sell me something so he could buy more freon for his truck.
Remember trucks eat money, and chances are you will be buying or leasing someone's truck that they couldn't afford to keep up.Highrisk21, Terry270, SL3406 and 2 others Thank this. -

All in favor say aye...
The Ayes have it...
Sign the Lease!!! -
Would you rather I put some sugar on it, and tell you what you want to hear instead? If so then by all means,.. take the first LP contract of your choosing and have at it. Thats as close as you will ever come in my opinion.
As for "how I say it" thats on you. How do you exactly interpret a "condescending tone" over the internet?
I dont type out long winded speeches just to insult people. If you took that all as me trying to belittle you,.. then you can add emotional issues to the list. If I dont think I am,.. its because I was not. You chose to comprehend it that way.
With that said, I am out. You'll figure out everything you need to know eventually.
HurstBoostedTeg, Terry270, x1Heavy and 2 others Thank this. -
To the OP: you asked this question in a truckers forum... Truckers are answering you. If you don't like what they say or how they say it... Just say thanks for your input and move on.
Come at this group like you just did and you will get a #### ton more and worse... LOL
Most of the folks here are willing to help you with their experiences and advice but will just as easily eat your lunch if you get smart with them.
Just my two cents worth. -
Cr England has some of those new transformer trucks built by Western star. I'm sure they have some available for lease purchase.
