When you're 21 and looking for another job, go with a company that will accept your current medical card and won't require another physical. If you get another physical through a trucking company doctor, you might fail because the trucking company has a policy against the medication.
Here's some companies that will accept your current DOT medical card & hires 21 yr. old drivers::
    Navajo Express
    J&R Schugel

For my part I have tried to "Lighten up francis" because I am old enough to come from a trucking time where people were pretty much left out of the industry if they did anything. The industry over the last... 15 years or so has... lightened up quite a bit to where certain activities are now possible.

Without getting idealistic or stupid, Trucking is a behavior that requires a good clear mind with sharp accurate reflexes to intervene when physics go against you for whatever reason and you find yourself with a truck getting ready to kill people. That is what seperates professional drivers from ordinary drivers who probably cannot pass a DOT exam (I cannot... it would be a glaring fraud on my part..)

Chinaman made a good point. If you get a physical through a random company doctor whom you never saw before you probably might not make it (Fail...) it's nothing personal. Which is why I encourage you to get that note with your current doctor who signs his name and number behind your current situation.

If your doctor is good with you and will write that note and back it with a signature, then I would reasonably presume that you probably have a bright future. You are very young but your life time will present many oppertunities many of us old ones do not have. It's hard to tell you just how bright the possibilities are for you both medically and being able to work and make a living.

I would reckon Idaho is nicer than the east coast where I came from and Ive hauled a number of Potatos out of there as well as passed through. You have many mountain passes on which ice is a possibility in shade. So there is that at least.

I think Im finished here. I don't have anything else to offer except stories, and we don;t need that today.

The famous Alfred E. Newman said, "People live on the East Coast because they don't know any better."

I doubt a doctor will stick his neck out and write a note and then sign it. Better just go with a company that will just take his current medical card.
