Not Swift, im with Central Refrigerated, they have a office/recruiters/classroom in Rancho Cordova, CA. The yard is off Bradshaw/Elder Creek road in Rancho also.

Wow, so once we get to Fontana, I will be issued a new green card? Whats the purpose of the one I already received and got stamped @ the dmv office?

I don't know about Central Refrigeration, but you would take at least another whiz quiz at orientation. I know of one guy that passed his at school, thought he wouldn't have to take another one for a while, got wasted between school and orientation, and was sent home forever from Swift.

I've been with Swift for almost 9 years with a minor backing deal nearly 8 and a half years ago, been called in for a random several times, last one was 4 months ago.

edit...I am going to edit this post with this thought... If you are concerned about passing a drug test, random or not, you might want to rethink driving a truck as a career. It's bad enough sharing the road with 4 wheelers that don't seem to worry about being under the influence of anything. I don't want to have to worry that another driver is ##**ed up on any type of mind altering substance.

You know, wait till you get a bit older, the piss test won't scare you at all, but a BP test sure will.

Yes, well, Central is 14 up on the list from Swift in my browser. Same column, though.
    Common mistake, I'm sure.

But hey, if you ever get tired of the cold temps - c'mon over to Swift.
Swift is fast, Swift is quick, Swift is leader of the pack, etc... etc.

I got to orientation ok went to their yard its not a bad hotel. There is a In N Out Wendy's down the street with a Denys near by too. There is a Jack in the box right next door to the hotel. anyway, I start the day out we go over a bunch of stuff. No hats just a warning. if you do have one take it off when you go inside. Don't ask the orientation guys who what when why or how about your mentor cause all they do is get your through the orientation. after that you get passed on to the next department. What they did say was it noramlly takes 2 days to get a mentor. Also they look at two things nothing else when picking a mentor. Number one Gender prefence and smoker or non smoker. Thats it they won't do anything more then that. Ricardo said they were trying to fit three days into two so he was rushing. I didnt stay for the second day though that I will get to later. When we weren't waiting in the classroom we were doing a road test or eye exam/wiz quiz and DOT physical(Sp?)

now with me, I was the first to drive and drove us out of the yard. I think out of the four that were in the truck with me I shifted the best but the other three did ok as well I did get a little close to a crub and didn't pull off all the way but I don't think that was a big deal because there was enough room still for people to get by. I ddin't hit nothin which was good as well. got back into the class did the eye exam but while that was going on your suppose to get your BP taken they skipped me made me alittle nervous. I did the drug screen. then got back into class they let the people go that got all the paper work done, wiz quiz, physical and drive test at around 2pm. I was pretty much the last one to see the doctor at 4pm. They said I had high BP. they told me I could stay but I didn't see a reason to there were others there that were in the same boat who were coming back and were going to have to sit through the second day again(I THINK) so I left I was upset because I don't really have the money to go to a doctor to get pills but I found a way to get the meds I needed now just waiting to go back to the doctor get some blood work back and I think a note sayin I am on the meds and what doctor I went to and all that. I will know more about what I need or if they aren't going to let me come back this coming week. It sucked but atleast I wasn't that far from home made it back before 8pm that night left at 5pm I will post again in a couple of days maybe.

Orientation is done and I will be heading out Monday or tuesday. I am really happy I can't wait to get out there. Its been a long road so far and this is just the start of it. You know I don't drink or smoke or do any drugs but I am ok being around others that do(not so much the drugs) but when your at Orientation and you know you have to get up early the next day and have a drug test that same day don't drink 10 tall cans of bud and drunk talk till 3 in the morning. This is what my roommate did to me and it pissed me off but I don't like to make waves. I am no ones moma so I won't tell you what you can or can't do but he told me he was only going to have two or three ugh. I was able to change rooms and the guy got hired thats what I was worried about the most he was kinda in the same boat I was and I felt bad for even saying anything but he was old enough he knew better he knew how to hide the alcohol too cause he was eating as well while drinking. If he would have just shut the f up I could have lived with it. but he didn't 330am is when he finally went to sleep and then starts snoring but I won't complain about that.

anyway thats over and I can move on. The guy that is a mentor thats coming to get me smokes. I wasn't going to pass up a offer to get a mentor period. any tips on how to keep my clothes not smelling like smoke? I just hope he doesn't smoke in the cab if he doesn't then I have nothin to worry about.

also how much should I really take? I am a big guy too and was packing enough clean clothes for every day for 6 days. I was talking to my trainer from school and he told me only bring enough clothes for a couple of days. Then when I move on to my truck pack heavy. The only problem is I don't know where we are going and its still freakin winter and in some parts SNOW is on the ground. this is what I have I have a big bag thats on rollers and then another bag that is smaller and then one that had my pillow and sheets in it but that isn't going to take up space its going to be what I keep my dirty clothes in and my beding will be well on my bed. Is that to much should I down size?

also are most trucks 8 speed?
    any tips/help would be great.
