Now dont get me wrong if someone doesnt get alot of hometime at their first job and they already work there then they should stick it out. You have to be strong mentally for this job and people who quit their (especially first) trucking job after the first inconvenience or stressor then they probably arent cut out for this.

I know i got tougher since trucking. You have to be. Sink or swim my friend.

    👍 Agreed! 👍
I am a trainer and I try and tell everybody to stick it out, because half the time you can't believe all the stories a brand new driver will tell you, because they won't tell you the whole story, and they end up talking crab about even good trucking companies like Shneider and other ones and in all reality they are cry babies at heart..

Yeah im a "trainer" too i guess although i sure dont get paid like i am. But my trainee i have now is this blonde girlie-girl. Shes nice and we get along and all that but i just dont see her doing this job. Sometimes you have to drive at night there is no avoiding it, and sometimes you need to sleep in the daytime. She claims she can never sleep in the daytime and even when she manages to from 11pm-2am she absolutely cannot drive. She claims that physically she cant do it. I have been soft on her so far because she is new and the loads we have been getting have been very lenient on appt times. They do that at my company the first month or so of getting a new driver. Well its been a month so im going to start getting harder on her and she will either make it or break.....

I might have to cut her loose soon.

Idk man if they are running better at running days, I let them run days.. Because we both know they do have that option of running only days when they get in a solo truck, they might not get good miles, but they do have the option. But if they can do it then I push them to run all times (day&night)
I hate to sound like I saying to go easy on her, because I'm not, it is the same thing for male or female

I have just found it easier for me and them, because they are already learning new stuff everyday, and that alone is enough to wear them out emotionally and mentally, then I try and find a schedule for them, and make them stick to it. And I do all the shift changing myself because im not learning new stuff in a daily basis, so I'm not as tired as they are at the end if the day. And if you are a good driver you will be able to drive all times of the day unless you can't see at night so it shouldn't be a problem with you..

Well my situation is a little different. I work at a team only small company. So when im done training her she will be my teammate. I refuse to team with anyone who cant pull their weight whenever and for whatever is called for on any particular day.

My first day as a trainee 9 months ago i drove from 11pm-10am and logged 720 miles so im not trying to be overly harsh but i do have my own personal persective and expectations that i have already established...
