i haul hospital linen around New England. It's loaded onto "sanicarts" which weigh between 500-800 pounds apiece when loaded. I can get 30 wheeled carts on my 48ft trailer. we only bump docks, but every place seems to be uphill either when loading or unloading. I empty the trailer of clean linen, move to a different dock and load back up with the dirty.I figured one time that i can move as much as 85,000 pounds of linen a day. I have delivered up to three hospitals a day, loading 6 times in the day and driving 400 miles.

When I pulled a reefer, I unloaded the truck for years. The company said pay a lumper or unload yourself and you keep the lumper money. We got paid the same amount as the lumper. Most weeks I could make between $200 - $500 extra in cash so I took advantage of it. One place paid $175.00 to pull 22 pallets of vinegar off; took about 30 minutes. Don't remember what the tire loads paid, but Tennessee to Phoenix then roll them off and let them hit the ground which is what the customer wanted so they could look at each tire; easy money. For years my whole paycheck went home & I lived on lumper money & much of the lumper money went home.

I unload now, auto parts to stores, at night. Its mostly palatalized, but there are a few that are hand unload. Most of those are less than a dozen pieces. The only thing that bothers me, is when the skid falls off the lift gate. It can be a real mess to clean up, before you can move to the next store.

I have been told those guys get paid well to deliver to hospitals, my wifes uncle used to deliver to hospitals and I think he worked for angelica and he said he made pretty good money.

They should be paid well, hospital docks are usually pretty #### tight if they have docks at all. They are amongst my least favorite places to deliver as a p/d driver

I do get paid well, $27 an hour.,and some of the docks are extremely tight. I pulled into a weigh station once and they asked me if I had any hazmat on the truck i said " dirty laundry" they laughed but I said " no! It's REALLY DIRTY"!!.

lol, I have not seen many of the hospital docks, I used to work at a hospital as a chef and the dock there was tight but only for the 53's I had bringing my food, the other trucks had no issues but I guess the one I worked at must of been much bigger.
