Thanks for the reminder! I have been tossing around putting a CB antenna on the driver’s door, and a 6 meter on the passenger’s. Different radios and coax, too, of course. Better idea?
Quick question for the CB/ham gurus

Good to know. Thanks! -
There's lots of better ideas but they generally involve a fabrication shop and expensive stainless steel custom-made mounting brackets.
-
Not a problem for me. I love fabricating stuff, and have friends better than I am. What are you thinking?
-
I got a killer idea for the Freightliner Cascadia that involves a 4in wide strip of stainless steel a quarter inch thick by 12 ft long
-
Okay so far.
-
It's not as bulky and awkward as it looks in the picture but you might get the idea and just imagine the strip of metal following the Contour of the fairings so it doesn't interfere with turning the vehicle. The antenna elements would be mounted outside the fairings.
-
You could make it in such a way that you don't have to drill any holes in the vehicle and it could use all the factory mounting holes but you'd probably want to install slightly longer stainless steel bolts.
If you make the bracket I'll donate a couple antennas to the effort. -
I got you. Not a bad idea. I’m a little weak on antenna theory, though, so bear with me. Would the common ground be an issue if I had one antenna servicing 11 meter, and another serving for amateur bands? -
Cool. As soon as I get home (2-3 more weeks), I’ll get started on it.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
