Yes I do all of the time and they just say that things are slow. The special thing about me is they can send me to NYC and I can blindside dock with no trouble in rush hour traffic and I get it done. When I go to the office they say how when there is a tough load they know I can take care of it. The thing is though even at only driving three days a week I still make a little over $1000 a week so I am not complaining too much. My main question it it the office staff making these appointment times spread out too much or the shipper/receiver? I dont want to leave to find out that it was the broker setting the appointments three days apart. As an owner op are you getting loads that have days of wait time before you can deliver?
Quick question on who is screwing me or not

lilillill Thanks this. -
Yeah that is why I havent left. However I am young and full of energy and can run way more so while I am out here I rather make as much as possible instead of being energized staring at a wall. I can see if I could go home for all of those off days that would be a paradise.

If you're doing that good of a job for them, then it's likely that they are just slow. Everything slows down this time of year anyhow.
Give them the benefit of the doubt and wait it out until April or May when things usually pick back up.OOwannaBE and slim shady Thank this. -
They are not going to let a customer sit unserviced and they are not going to deadhead a cheaper driver to take a load. I have never seen any evidence of this at a large. Has it happened? I'm sure it has but trucking isn't like most jobs. If you are the closest truck and you have hours, you get the load. Trucks sitting on the yard usually work on a first in, first out scenario.
I have many people who I would call friends that are or have been dispatchers and they would find it amusing that anyone would think they have the time to compare driver pay before assigning a load. -
When I started with my current company, I started at the top of the pay scale, based on my years of driving experience, and safety record ... I have no trouble bumping my 70, or needing a reset ... and I hear from new teams that are getting less miles than I do solo ...
January especially is a slow time of year typically, Feb is not much better ... but ... I ran out of my 6.5 hrs yesterday, and my 10 today before the sun went down ... get almost 11 tomorrow!
I doubt that they are giving you crappy runs because of your pay scale, now if your always late, and run over the shippers new Harley ... then they may be giving you a hint

Did you come up with this on your own or did you read it on a bathroom wall?
Trucks get dispatched according to their location. First in,.. first out. The only time one might get passed up on is if the driver does not have the hours to spare.
If driver 'A' makes $.10 CPM more than driver 'B' and driver 'A' operates efficiently, on time, every time,..where driver 'B' is still green and not as proficient. You can bet your 401k that driver 'A' gets dispatched before driver 'B'.
Companies maximize their profits by getting volumes of loads delivered. Not picking and weeding through which drivers are paid more and giving them the left overs. They would lose too many good experienced drivers like that.
Replacing a driver is more expensive than hiring a rookie out of school, paying him minimum scale and then training him to finally become as routine as the driver that just quit. Sorry,.. it just does not work like you think. Dont ever get into dispatching. Your "Business 101" theory is so far off base.

Nope they have a website with our career stats and I have a 99% on time record over six years. I question the 1% they may have accidentally blamed me for a shipper delay.

Over my past 14+ years of experience I have seen many peaks and valleys. It happens every year. Some are better than others. So keep plugging away. You'll get the miles.

I heard on the news the other day that's werners 4th quarter earnings were down 40 percent from a year ago.
Union Pacific still not doing well either.
