At one point they were making it in the old Rolling Rock brewery in Latrobe.

Not that it matters in the "big scheme of things" for O/O's (or does it?), but Prime has downloadable permits for drivers permit books for the following states online:

    • Indiana
    • Kansas
    • Kentucky
    • Massachusetts
    • North Carolina
    • New Mexico
    • New York
    • Ohio
    • Oklahoma
    • Pennsylvania
    • Texas
    • Virginia
    • West Virginia

So I'd suspect these are the states that DO REQUIRE permits. Whether you can just buy a "trip permit" for one-off loads, is beyond my pay-grade (or desire to research further)...

I was told that NJ requires one, but I don't see them on that list...

I can't say for sure or not, regarding NJ - but I'm going under the assumption that if they DID - then Prime would have a fleet permit for them.

I notice NY got like $6K from Prime for the permit costs. You can see their permits here: http://primeinc.com/about-us/documentation/alcohol-permits.html

I think the issue is more about "untaxed liquor" being "released" in a particular state. Remember, it's about REVENUE, not SAFETY (on both sides - taxing the consumer themselves, and "taxing" the carrier for the privilege of carrying the goods in/to/through their jurisdiction)...

I'd think the bigger worry was not DOT, per se' - but the states Alcoholic Beverage Authority.

NJ calls it a license instead of a permit...you can't afford to be without one! The principals of the company need to provide their income taxes for a few years and have 'public hearings', the same hoops they make a package goods store or bar go thru!

Yeah but they then purchased the Foglesville brewery. The town of Latrobe bought the RR brewery when the brand sold out to CrudWieser and it is now being used by Iron City. I can only hope that the 'clear mountain spring water of Old Latrobe' works better for them than the rusty water in the burg.

You might want to check with the specific states you will be running through? The fine isn't worth it...............

OH and PA definitely need Beer/Liquor permits. NJ as well, but you need a decal for your truck too. WV and MD require ORIGINAL cab cards/permits, not copies. MA requires an original permit as well, if you are delivering or picking up in the state.
