If I was the safety guy at a truck co. I'd wonder why you're driving without your license/proof of insurance on you ? To me that say irresponsible person and I wouldn't want you working for me. That's just the cold hard facts, not trying to rag on you.

Because I have seen more then one trucker busted for an expired or suspended license I'm going to give the OP a break on that. However like I said in my first post I am more interested in why the OP had no license. Was it just a simple expiration or was it something else? If it was something else you will have a tough time getting a driving job. If it was just because you did not renew the license, that's forgivable. Both tickets are non moving violations I believe if there are no underlying reasons causing the no insurance no license situation. I am single and I have no children. I can be very forgetful. My sister keeps a large calendar on her dining room wall. When I get an appointment I call her and she puts it on that calendar. When the appointment date comes she will either call me or text me. If that year had a DOT physical she had the date and did the same. Most carrier safety depts. will notify you too. It like some of the previous posters have said to let stuff lapse like that shows irresponsible behaver and some people don't like it.

Yeah I understand "forgetting" important things or any number of scenarios that can happen in one's life, but bottom line is, get some maturity if you want to drive trucks. Your wallet (that contains your license) should be in your pocket especially when driving a vehicle, right ? The proof of insurance should also be there, although most will keep it in the glovebox, I admit. Would you leave your house and forget to put your pants on ? I doubt it. I think your drivers lic is somewhat important, right ?

I'm with you on that. As I was rereading some of the replies in this thread. I was reminded of a situation I got in about 20 years ago. My license was about to expire and I was stuck in Denver. I had about a week until my company would take me out of service. I was doing drive a way then and decided to just give up the load (which I was waiting on only and the load was my truck) and flew from Denver to Atlanta went home and renewed my CDL.

Most states will renew your license up to 90 days BEFORE it expires, so why wait till the final day ?

How many points were assessed? More than three within the previous three years will close a lot of doors, at least temporarily.

In my case it was just being dumb. I left home with about a month to go headed to Houston Texas thinking I would do a pickup there and bounce home. I did not. I got a load going from Houston to Dallas them a load going to Arizona. I got on a bus to LA and bounced from Southern California to Portland Or and back for a bit over 2 weeks then a load from Portland to Denver and got stuck there. I was in trouble and I knew it. Thankfully I found a great fare and shot home.
