I've not driven trucks through NYC yet - just 12-passenger family van. I never found 95 to be bad in NYC - just be patient. Not sure what your directions say after NYC, I personally would take 91, 84, 90, 495, back onto 95. I'm only about 40 minutes from Lewiston, quiet "city" after NYC and Boston. :) Stay safe.

@bzinger ... any input? I've not been that way in a rig in almost 20 years. (Thank God, LoL!)

I'd run up 287 and across the tappen zee but if you want a tour of what was the shining example of urban decay run thru the city on the cross Bronx ( gwb)
As previously mentioned use lane 2 at the cash box and stay in 2nd lane from the left and enjoy the tour .
Ignore low clearance signs ...its improved greatly from years past with a new deck on the bridge and the cross Bronx isn't bad .
    From what it was .
Stay left on the bridge so as to avoid 178th st and Henry Hudson parkway which is exit only .
    Enjoy !
    Hope this helps.

I run NYC about every other day. If you're just cutting through stick with the cross Bronx. It's a short stretch but like posted earlier, you gotta hit it at the right time. The Zee is no picnic either these days and not worth the run around. Also as mentioned, you're gonna want the far left or middle lane coming off the bridge. You will lose the two right lanes. Last night they had 2 lanes closed on the GWB each direction about 1 am. I'm assuming it'd be the same for the next few nights at least.

There isn't much wiggle room in the lanes. You have a few inches and thats it so just take your time and stay on high alert for the idiots. The supertruckers like to get in that left lane on the bridge but then get nervous being so close to the wall and wind up pushing you out of yours. So just look out and take your time. Oh yea and you are allowed on the Upperdeck Only!
Stay on 95 and you'll make a left at the 295 Throgs Neck junction then you'll be on your way. Have fun in Connecticut. Far worse than NY IMO.

Verizano is the same with upper deck so I figured as much. Thanks for the replies guys. I parked at exit 89 on 95 in va. I got about 3 hours left to run but major traffic jam so I figured I'll sit that one out and get an early start

No worries. There about a million things to tell someone who asks advice for NYC. Teamwork. Luckily he's only passing through. Otherwise we'd be here a while.

I waa about to suggest that.

It's a bit out of the way, but traffic issues should be pretty mich nil.
