I think he is correct about Werner being the only one. Here's some useless info about them tho. If you are stopped by the DOT and work for Werner, they can have a copy of your logs on paper to the DOT within 45 mins. One of the guys who worked at Werner when they were first implimenting them and helped get them in place was Al Irwin. So now, there are two pieces of trivia for you. Logs arent bad to do if I can do them and do them neatly, so can you. Best of luck
Thanks. I am trying to get them down neat as I can lol,it'd really surprised some people to know that truck drivers do alot more than just drive all the time. That they have to keep up with dang near every time they have to stop more than 15mins. I have another question if I may, anyone here got advise on flatbed driving?
LOL I thought about it, but I might get dirty or break a nail... Oh my!!! LOL sorry cant offer you any advice cept I have a good friend who loves pulling a flatbed.
You will be hearing from both sides on this question, no doubt. When I think of skateboarding, I think of tarping in high winds, untarping in rain/sleet/snow/wind, seeing the last of an expensive tarp that has just become a sail, in the Laramie WY wind. . .(well, OK that is an exaggeration,) lots of construction sight picks and drops etc etc etc.
on our qc, i see that we have 'canned' msgs' for hos input. But we are still using paper. I think at one time we had select drivers using the qc, hos. Been where i'am for 4 years nothing has ever been said about going paperless
Aren't those QC HOS canned messages just to let your dispatcher know where you stand, so they can do a little preplanning for you? It is completely different from "paperless logs." At least that is how I remember it, but then. . .
Pretty sure you're right on that. Keeps everyone in the loop, especially when situations are tight. Kind of like when there USED to be too much freight and they really had to plan well.
There are pros and cons to paperless. I have done both and much rather have paper by a long shot but it keeps the company from running the crap out of you.
Werner is the only carrier in the United States that is allowed to only use paperless logs. For years they had to reapply for permission to do so however, in the past couple months, they have been granted permanent status of using paperless logs permanently (meaning they don't have to keep reapplying for permission). There's a story how this happened, which I think started back in the late 1990s and my other half worked for Werner before they had the QComms and during the change over. I'll ask him and post back the story of how they were the ones that got to test and help develop the system.
