Or you can link it on the internet. The book is on line! However you could not tell the officer wait lets get on line so the book is better for those situations and I agree you should know where and what you are talking about.
Oh I was going to give you all the link to the Logging Regulations.
Click on the word interpretations and there is the Q & A's. When you see 8 you might change that 8 to a 10. They still have not updated the online with those missed errors.

When I discuss things with you I always try to attach the link with the regulation # so you know where to look in your book.

I've logged as little as 3 breaks, .25 .5 and .25 in an 11 hr stretch with no problems from any level 1 inspection.
What they don't want to see is a straight 11 hrs. -
It's not "illegal" to drive a straight 11 though. I can see it will be one day though and I can actually understand why. Then again like a driver said to me time goes by fast if you get talking on the cb and you don't even know it's been 11.
I feel your eyes would get tired and stopping to stretch etc would be great during that time. -
I don't see why any driver would have a problem with breaks in his 11 - so long as they add up to less than 4 hours.
Me, I tend to take a break every two hours or so. Sometimes it's only a flag, but usually I do more than go inside the little building.
As for the CB.. heard anything or anybody I want to talk about/to in the past months. No change on the road this past two weeks. On the other hand, I'm really pretty happy inside my own head.
I think it helps that I don't feel the pressure to get the load there early so I can grab another load to get there early so I can (etc) to make a billion dollars by Thursday. No pressure to go fast generally means less likelihood that time will pass slowly. -
I don't understand why a driver might stop for 15 minutes for a stretch but doesn't show on his/her log they stopped. Do you understand you are eating up your line 3 time when you don't have to. You have 3 hours to kill or you can run 11 take a 10 and get on the road again. It's all in the individual driver but my point is if you stop log 15 minutes for that stop as off duty (if your company allows you to) or on-duty. Don't eat the line 3 time you might need it later down the road for a safe place to park.
Sorry just something there that caught my eye. -
Haven't run into that one. Seems pretty much of a 'DUH' to me.
And I noticed I goofed in my post - as long as your non-driving breaks add up to less than THREE hours, who cares? -
The misconception that there is no breaks allowed in a day is probably the most common one I run into. -
Yeah that's true, but everytime I say that they always come back with if I stop then it eats my 14 hour.
So now i stress stop for 2 hours then you only have to shut down for 8 but you must understand the proper way to split
Grrr logs is so many gotta add this and you gotta add this to make sure u understand one simple thing! l.o.l.
