Looking for a used 2 car roll back in the -26K GVW range so my son could drive it without a CDL. Been looking at Internationals and Freightliners. Wish list is for Automatic trans, full air breaks and air ride. Anothther biggie on the list is a quiet Diesel engine. I have seen both IH and FL with loud and quiet engines I will park at home so I need quiet not to mention quiet is nice when you drive it your self. So who's engine is the quietest these days? Thanks,
Chip

Quietest I've heard was a Kodiak with a Duramax and Allison

Thinking it will require a cdl for the air brake part.
Not sure if they have a non cdl air brake endorsement ?cnsper Thanks this. -
The air brake issue has been beaten to death on a few other forums. Best I can figure is if the truck is below 26K, is not placarded and not transporting X amout of people for hire then no CDL required It's stull registered as a commercial vehicle but does not have to conform to CDL requirements.
Terry270 Thanks this. -
This is correct. I used to run an airbrake rollback before I had my CDL

The Ford powerstokes do pretty good now as far as quiet. When an F-750 pulls up next to me at a light I don't even know he's there until I look.

Lol those are not Powerstroke. They put real engines in those.

He will need air brake endorsement. If you coss 26k he will need class c. You can not drive with air brakes commercially without air brake endorsement. DOT loves to harass medium duty trucks.

Oops I guess they changed that! Lol
