Good luck to all of you. Quiting is not a easy road, I started in about 1961 or 62. Wanted to be part of the guys, leather jackets with cigarette's hanging out of the mouth. Anyway, I quit about 6 years ago, after about 45 years. Like many of you I tried and failed many times. Then I tried Chentax (sp), before I knew it was a no no. Anyway it worked great, except for the side effects(they sucked). Although, even after this long the cravings still exist, maybe its because I used to smoke 3-4 packs a day (almost a chain smoker). Still today I have to keep telling myself I cant have just that one, even just to see what it tastes like. Anyway, good luck to all of you and hope you all succeed in quiting and/or staying tobacco free.

I'm glad that I was not smoking ever since, I only like a coffee every night. :)

It can be done...I smoked for 21 years...Was up to around 3 packs a day...I quit cold turkey....the first few days prior to quitting I tried to see how far I could go from the time I woke up till the time I had one....each day I got a little further....then I smoked regular for a whole weekend, and I told myself come Monday I am done with them....

I had to use the gum for like 6 months I think but I have successfully quit.

It gets easier Menehune! Of course at least once a day, sometimes twice I have an urge to smoke, but it passes. I quit 72 days ago and since then I've saved well over $600 bucks, and HAVE NOT smoked 2thousand, five hundred cigarettes! Omg!
I try to imagine that many cigarettes in a bowl and me sitting down in front of them and saying, "OK, I'm going to smoke all of these cigarettes." It's crazy!

Hang in there! Now I just hope I can find a trainer when I'm out of school in four weeks who, like me, is a non smoker and who will allow me thirty min each day to exercise. I have to exercise.

There it is right there. You have to want it for yourself. I didn't look to family or friends for support. Heck my siblings didn't even know that I was trying and we're a pretty tight and close knit family. I did this for me. But not cold turkey, Giggles, although they do call it "warm chicken!" I used the patch, but it worked.

It is an addiction like no other. And i can say this from experience of growing up in the drug influenced 70s.
And that cigarette addiction, or more specifically nicotine addiction is legal is just disgusting and one of the many letdowns of government. Cigarettes should not be legal. I have an attitude towards the tobacco companies for hooking users, then bilking them for all the money the addiction costs, and ultimately lives. I'll get off my soap box now.
