secure the local gig first. Don't worry about 2 week notice. Just make sure the truck isn't damaged and no loads are incomplete. If you want to get really CYA (cover your butt) document all correspondence with a foto of each email you send to your FM and what they send to you. Return to terminal. The reason I say take a foto is because you can contest a DAC entry that is false or incorrect with the foto documentation.

I'm on my 34 reset at home right now. I live in southern CA. I figured it'd be better to quit and then apply so I can go in for interviews right away etc. I have enough in savings to get me by for a few months and if I can't land a local gig by then, should be a sign to go back to school and get my masters (which is something I should do anyway).

I'm definitely going to turn the truck in at terminal and I sent all messages thru the app on my phone so they're saved.

You should be fine just make sure dispatch doesn't get a wild hair and gives you a load a couple days before you quit.

When I left prime a couple years back I told them I needed routed through the yard because I had something to do on the 7th of Jan. Told them a week ahead of time and sure enough on the 6th I was sitting in northern Iowa with no load or preplan. I talked to my fm and she told me to stay put and I couldn't deadhead to the yard in sprimo..so me being me I started the truck and drove empty to the yard, qualcomm screaming at me the whole time because they were freaking out and the last half because I was out of hours but I had had enough and was starting with a local compqny the next day. dropped my trailer and parked the truck at sprimo then I sent a qualcomm message stating that the truck was in the parking spot it was in at sprimo and it was good working with you. Made sure to take a picture of that and also the truck sitting in that spot. (They're numbered) Time/date on the photo matched qualcomm message...nothing on my report.

Schneider hit my DAC with abandonment way back when. Asked to be routed to a yard to talk to stl they sent me a load going into the NE. I deadheaded to the nearest yard which was about 90mi. Screw em 10 years later tjey still send me recruitment post cards.

Also make sure you take pics of your rig after you empty and clean it out. Heard more than once of companies trying to ding driver's final paycheck for "truck cleaning fees".....
