R&L owns ABCO, and both are a major joke. They created they're own system called MDT which is a piece of s*#@ and when you go down the road it blinks on and off, turns itself off, reboots, whatever. I've complained about it many times to the office what was going on, they even changed it once but problems kept coming up. Finally, they decided to blame the driver for the problem saying I must have tampered with it to make it do that. I'm an honest driver, don't need to tamper with anything they got on that truck.

Well I worked out of the Davenport,Iowa yard and I worked with a bunch of good guys on the night shift (combo) drivers for three months. I can tell you that the Chicago Yard was the worst yard to pick up from, I sat for five hours for a return load and when I got back I was chewed-out for taking so long. I was told by the TM the next time I had to wait there that long, (if I didn't the time left on my log book to wait, let them know that or grab to mt pups and leave") At one in the morning the TM and Safty are sleeping and trying to call the main office didn't answer either.(at that time) We sat at EVERY Terminal for a minimum two to five hours and NO PAY was given for downtime, wait time. I would put up with them to move on to bigger and better, you just have take the bad with the not so good working envirnments.

if you knew anything about p & d work you would know that handtrucks and a palletjack makes your job so much easier, r&l does inside deliveries and liftgate service. i worked there 6.5 years in city and linehaul, if you don't own your own palletjack your forced to use the extra ones on the dock and they are in bad shape. you could get a brand new jack for 5.00 a week, with 18 to 20 stops on a trailer you need your own way to move freight around on your trailer.123456 Thanks this.

for 5 bucks a week< I think they could afford that themselves.

The scale won't bust you for 100 lbs Don't know where you were going but all scales are closed up that way at night.

Weeeelllll.....just so happens that I do know a bit about p&d work. And if the company requires the use of a pallet jack, or a 2 wheeler, then they should provide the tools to do the job. Not tell me that they are required, and tell me to go buy them! Or they should reimburse me if I buy them.
Or tell someone they need to have an R&L jacket to be a part of the team, oh BTW, it'll cost you $75.00..... -
I've dealt with R&L for years on the receiving side. Nicest and most helpful bunch of LTL drivers I've ever met. I've trusted them to jump on our company forklifts and load their own trucks when we've been extremely busy... and they are always more than happy to do it. That's something I just don't let any driver do. Can't complain one bit about their service... I've been extremely pleased.

nobody is gonna tell you to go out and buy these items, but i never liked asking a consignee to move a pallet or two around so i can get my freight off easier. some would do it and some would not because of claim possiblities.all i know is what i needed to do my job with less drama.city work is okay, i just hated covering somebody else's route and not knowing how to get around that town without a map, this is before gps's were around. i bet i had a dozen maps around n.c.

I don't know how many skids I've moved around for LTL drivers and insurance concerns never crossed my mind. Once I unloaded a pup of another consignee's freight and kept it on our dock for hours to help out a LTL with schedule problems... and was happy to do it. If a dock worker throws a hissy fit about taking 30 seconds to move a skid to help a LTL driver... they need their behind kicked out the door.
