For years I've spent about 100 dollars for a 30lb tank of refrigerant. Now the same tank is selling for 400-500+ per tank!
When these brokers try to get you down on the rate be sure to remind them that fuel isn't the only thing that keeps your equipment on the road. Everything else is rising in cost as well.

had the ac charged at the house, the guy that dose it for me told the freon price went up big time due to new epa regs. their trying to make it cost alot more so people will switch to some new stuff. he said a lot of new refrigerators now have propane in them instead of freon.

They are trying to make air conditioners so expensive to get and service, people will stop using them.
green new deal!Last Call, JoeyJunk, Rubber duck kw and 5 others Thank this. -
I read something about that too. They did the same thing when they decided r12 was no longer acceptable. I also read there's a "shortage" so that's driving the cost up too.
Frankly though, the reason for this means absolutely nothing to me. All that concerns me is my operating expenses here. All everyone is focused on is fuel but there are so many more material expenses we have to pay that are getting higher and higher with each passing day. -
The Eco Nazis outlawed most R134 production in 2020 (they've controlled..er Censored most of the press coverage to the public) stock up now it's going to be just like R12 was as it runs out..
Cases of cans and 30lb bottles will be worth in 5 years or so.
PS ...R134 is being replaced by a new insanely expensive eco version that's so pricey it's sold by the gram .. already in new car production and $300-500 to do a basic AC service. Democrats
Let's Go Brandon!!

I can't stock up at 500 dollars a bottle. I foresee lots of hijacked trucks and stolen trailers in the near future of refrigerant.
I saw that new stuff when I was looking around for 134 and thought it looked way too expensive. Figured it was because it was so new. These über rich overlords are crazy if they think people are going to pay those prices.
I don't think political parties are to blame. Doesn't matter if it's an R or a D because on the Fed level they're all in bed together. They're only concern is greed.JoeyJunk, TheLoadOut, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
I’ve noticed a jump on 12 Oz cans at Walmart from Under $5.00 to over $8.00, almost double. Prices often go up in summer, like anti freeze does in winter. Walmart’s usually consistent year round. A friend of mine just offered to get me a 30# bottle wholesale. It’s usually a bit cheaper than the cans. I like to stay stocked up on at least 12 cans. They’re also handy on the Truck, keeping 6 cans onboard. Been expecting a price increase. Will report the price when he checks it.
JoeyJunk, KB3MMX and ProfessionalNoticer Thank this. -
They want everyone to have to have an electric air conditioner.

Thought you had to have some special government permit or license of some sort to buy a keg of freon anymore, did that actually not work out for them? What happens if a person bumps their head and uses propane in a 134a system, anything exciting, definitely not saying I would ever do that.
