You make that up while in "training" your trainer is sleeping so they're ready for their driving shift.
Don't forget about the driver cams!

 

Most companies are installing driver cams. Also, if a new driver feels he needs a baby sitter in the passenger seat while he drives, he's in the wrong profession. He should stop at the next rest area and call mommy to come get him.

 

How can one be in training when the trainer is sleeping?

Driving isn't that complicated; even simple for those that rode the short school bus to public school. RE West has it right.

 

So very glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this way. There is no reason except "to make company more money from having a team on the road".

 

You're ESWS qualified, so you certainly don't need a babysitter to do such a simple task as driving a truck.

 

Yeah...What's a Trainer to do ...Stay awake 24/7 on a 2000 mile trek with a tight time schedule? Trainer either "trusted" the OP's driving or was dead a.. tired ! He has to run a log,not exempt from sleeper berth.The real problem is greedy companies giving a trainer truck a tight load to make a quick buck.They should get easy loads,sleep at the same time,but then the no miles pay problem.Pay trainers "hourly" so they can train.
