I cop found a radar detector inside my suitcase with personal items , it wasn’t in use or connected in anyway. He then proceeded to confiscate it . Did he have the right to that ? What is ruling on can I plead not guilty to a charge “ of equipping the truck with radar detector “. Since it was not used and was out of reach . Thanks for any advice.

It’s been awhile since I had to deal with it, but in Va they would write down the serial number and give it back. If no serial number then bye bye.

Why was he inside your suitcase?
Did you give him probable cause to look for drugs?Puppage Thanks this. -
drive with the flow of traffic, "Up to the speed limit", and just always be aware of small towns.
i drove with an old "Fuzz buster", then years later with a Bell..tell you what, the Bells claimed little to NO false positives......what a bunch of horse puckey....
i sold the Bell to some kid, for less than what i paid for it, best thing i ever did, and frankly in all my 48 years as a trucker and all my years as a car driver..??
never got pulled over for speeding.
i think radar detectors are like "snake oil products"...
ya never really need'em. -
Bakerman Thanks this.

Verboten. Gone, you get a stack of tickets.
Poof you don't have any rights therein. Because you are engaged in a public safety sensitive position that is Federally Regulated. Those things have been banned for generations.
