Local car stereo shop has done a super install of a full setup, triple camera's (one records straight ahead, and one at an angle out each door) as well as radar and lidar with radar and lidar shifters front/rear on a KW, they've got something like $5,000 into the install, took them 4 days to do it, it's even more trick than this video. Even if they told you where the switches are, you'd still never find them as it's all concealed behind two hidden panels in the dash, it's also tied into the air brakes, so if he sets the tractor brakes the entire system shuts off.

$400 doesn't even buy a top of the line detector. The hidden/concealed kits are $1,100 to $1,500 before install.

if a person feels so compelled to spend so much money, so be it, i just don;t want to hear thier BS about how broke they are, at the end of the week. also, if one needs such a device, tells me that particular person is a danger on the roads, as he must constantly speed.

Not everyone who has a detector speeds, a speed trap creates a very dangerous situation with every other moron checking their speeds and jamming on the brakes. The driver with the detector might get alerted 2 miles ahead of time and already be backing down. Also, in some states, even 2 mph can earn your a ticket, and the sneakier states are employing more and more "hidden" unmarked cars. Come to Colorado and roll through the Denver area, Denver police have 6 unmarked Explorers, you will not know they are cops until the lights start flashing, there are no push bars, all the antenna are concealed (the factory stereo/XM shark fin is still there and works), the windows are tinted. If you saw one on the road, the only slight give away are the very plain jane black steel "cop" wheels, and even then you need to know what they look like. They like to hide in plain sight along I-70 and I-25, often looking like they are broken down. Recently, I noticed they also have a two all black SHO Taurus PPV that unless the lights are on, it looks like any other "murdered" Taurus, except it's shiny, right down to the regular wheels, no "cop" wheels.

Also, in some rural counties out west, the sheriff's are using "unmarked" marked pickups and SUV's, the lettering on the sides of the vehicle is only visible from certain angles, otherwise you'll never know it's a cop.

Give me the individual who is speeding, aware of surroundings and focused on the task at hand in place of the brain dead drone applying makeup, eating a breakfast sandwich or on their device anyday.

Running a radar detector in a commercial truck? Crazy. That's what channel 19 is for.

BUT, I do like to run a good detector in my personal to keep my record clean because I drive a truck.

I had a K-40 in my sports car youth, then got a used Valentine One on ebay and it was the last radar detector I needed to buy. That is until I turned in a rental car one day and left it in there. Now some jack off in Atlanta has a nice Valentine One.

    Broke is a different conversation.

I could say the person spending a lot on a radar detector is akin to someone buying a high end gun with a high capacity mag. Would you say that person is more likely to go on a killing spree? Some of us just like the tech side and knowing before they see the officer. And just to reiterate I do not have a radar detector in my truck. I would love to, but since it’s illegal I will pass on putting it in.

Relying on the Civil War era technology again. Don’t you know we have “apps” for that now?
