Looking for a new radio..... always been a Cobra 29 man cause their just like me, cheap and dependable.......

Anywho, Some say Stryker is the best 10m, some like older Connex 3300HB and the list goes on.......

Forget 10m and stay Cobra or what?

Depends on your needs,no need for a 10 meter if your only talking to load outs and guard shacks.
It takes far more then a 10 meter if you have CB Kung-## on your mind
Tired of looking a Cobra's,then buy a Uniden
    Same performance,different package.

The Galaxy DX949 is another good non 10 meter radio you can look into. Google it.

    FIRST .....

EXCEPT FOR THE Ranger 2950 and Mag-257 which are ok these so called " 10 " meter radios are just illegal CB sets .....

They are poor radios and on SSB sound at best poor.... On FM they are a joke. I can't remember the last time someone even tried to use on on 29.600.

You want a GOOD CB set ..................

Cobra is a good set if you need a bit of power go get a amp ....

The cobra 29 is a fine radio as well as the Cobra 25 which has the same performance just in a smaller package.

I run a connex 4600 turbo 10 meter that has been converted to 11 meter (CB) usage. It has better receive (ears) then the cobras that I have run. It also has better get out power then the cobras since it does about 45 to 50 watts carrier with a tad over 200 watts of pep power. It does have options on it that I can do without such as talkback and eco and reverb along with a 10K switch to go between channels and of course it still goes on the 10 meter bands. But like I said, I only run the regular 11 meter (CB 40) and I don't do any sidebanding so it does what I want.

I used to have a Galaxy 949 and it also had good recieve compaired to the cobras. It is a little larger chassis radio so it takes up a little more room then the cobra 29. Something went south on it and it only works for a few minutes then looses power and modulation. so it is just sitting till I can send it in or find somebody to fix it for me.

That new digital cobra is another option, baisically a cobra 29 with a new digital faceplate and some other options. It is new so the verdict is still out as far as the reliability of the new digital face on it.

I have a Galaxy 949, among 3 Uniden 78's. I prefer the Galaxy, except for the side mount mic connection. But if all you have is a dash mount plate, it's not an issue.:biggrin_25525:
