Anyone using the usb thumb drive for music mp3 ? If so what gb size are you using?
-
Not in about 10 years. Easier to just play from your phone. If you want to be wireless get a bluetooth dongle and plug into that auxiliary port. That's what I did on my last Volvo that didn't have bluetooth in the factory stereo.

Thanks for the reply. I have over 400 GB of music media stored on usb thumb drives that I would like to listen to in the truck, but the factory radio says they are an invalid format. Most likely it has to do with the size or file format of the usb drive, that is why I am asking if anyone knows what it may be?
They play fine on the wives car , a 2020 ford escape that has a usb in the console.
The truck has blue tooth, phone connects to it. But my media is not on the phone, it's on usb -
Gotcha. I've never had OEM car stereos play well with big thumb drives but I haven't tried in a long time. Personally I gave up and buy bigger phones/phone storage.

What is old to some is vintage to others- my collection of music is 7 decades, stuff you wont here on a streaming service, hours of DAT live and bootleg recordings, etc.
Ripped hundreds of CD's to digital storage, and have them on USB now. Then sold the CD's along with all my vinyl so in that respect I did " throw out" my old stuff I guess. Thanks guys.86scotty Thanks this. -
Actually on the new 2026 Volvos the Bluetooth doesn’t work for playing music. Volvo is trying to fix the issue and will send out the update hopefully soon.
