To remain competitive, carriers would reduce driver pay. How does that help them recruit better drivers?
Also, I'm not discouraged by your naysaying. I expected the likes of you. I'm talking about solutions and you're hemming and hawing about the same ol'. You go find a new job and let me do me.

I like the Idea of stand and fight, but, Im retired, and I see many veteran drivers on this subject, all have knowledge of past and presence, for what has happen and what is going to happen. Everyone has good points here. I'm headed back to the Crusty Ol Drivers thread.
SHC Thanks this. -
I am not assuming anyhting. If you did not know how you were going to be paid, then there is no point in continuing conversation with you as I highly doubt you will be able to comprehend anything else. There is not a single carrier that hides how you will be paid. I can sit around and call them all day long and inquire what the pay and they will tell you. Some are percentage, some are practical miles, some HHG. It is 100% YOUR FAULT if you took a job not knowing how or what you were going to be paid. A car salesman would love a guy like you on his lot.
As for the "1 trick pony" comment it is ponitless, as I AM the boss man.
And so i do not make assumptions in the future, why don't you explain to us whom you drive for, how you are paid and some cases where you feel you were shorted or screwed over in pay??? (and I say this knowing you will not answer the questions, so i guess I am now as bad as you)jlkklj777 and Licensed to kill Thank this. -
I work for you.

Actually companies have reduced pay scales through the recession to stay in business. As a matter of fact the carrier I work for dropped everyones pay 5% across the board, suspended bonuses and 401K Contributions. I am still there and even with the pay cuts still made 70 grand last year. The key isn't about the mileage rate at all. The key is about the entire pay package including benefits.
Better carriers have moved to practical miles vs HHG miles. A few carriers even offer HUB miles.
Your'e not making any points with your ridiculous arguments. I really expect more from a driver with (supposedly) 35 years of experience. Your comments seem more like they would come from a newbie that is just realizing the different pay structures in an industry they know nothing about.
Step up your arguments or concede you are WAY out of your league in here.SHC Thanks this. -
Typical, must be on SSI like most people on here who want to complain about companies and the government.

With all due respect 'Uncle Pete', you sound like the kind of person that will buy a house next to an airport because it is 30% cheaper than anywhere else, then petition the city to have the airport shut down because it's too noisy. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone took responsibility for their own actions and decisions rather than always trying to blame others.

Attacks on me aside, can you say anything in defense of HHG? I think it's theft and have said so in this thread. I haven't seen anybody refute this.

I keep reading about these starting at 40k a year jobs. Where are they? The Mrs. & I started our careers at CRST. Made 19K a year each. Left after 4 months of being broke. I tried H O Wolding for a while. Avereaged 640 mi a day. That was only figuring days spent in the seat, no home time. Went local for 8 months, then ended up driving a city mass transit bus.

It would appear that everything the guys here have been telling you has gone right over your head. Companies are free to pay based on whatever formula they choose. YOU have the right NOT to work for one whose formula you disagree with PERIOD. We get it, you don't like HHG, you think it's theft. Fine, DON'T WORK FOR A COMPANY THAT PAYS BASED ON IT. Problem solved. As far as saying anything in defence of HHG, I can't because I am not familiar with it. I don't NEED to be familiar with it because I'm not a driver looking for work considering a company that uses it.jlkklj777 Thanks this.
