I think we all understand liability and the sue happy world we live in. I am no stranger to modifying things outside of manufactures designs. I have a motorcycle that I hand built the majority of the frame on. The Toyota pickup that is in the background of a few of the pictures on this thread has a 350 v8 in the engine bay. I have hand built trailers before. I have hand built a lifted suspension system for a pickup just to name a few I do understand that when you make something yourself or modify you can be held liable if it fails.
I do appreciate your concern and your initial response pointing out possible liability. However you have made you're point I think you can walk away now.
Thank you

You're the only one here who seems to think being civil isn't an option. What was that you'd said about name calling? Oh yeah...
So what does it mean when a person decides civility is no longer called for and instead suggests a physical altercation should ensue?
There is nothing wrong with modifying a 5th wheel to put it at the height it needs to be in order to do the job that needs to be done...ESPECIALLY when the person doing the modification has put some thought into it does a quality job which any craftsman would be proud of having turned out.
The only person getting pissed off is you, because nobody else allows potential liability to cripple them when it comes to solving problems and getting things done. We see a problem, come up with a solution, and make it happen. You'd rather reach for your wallet and pay somebody else to solve your problems so that you won't be held liable if it doesn't work as advertised. As the truck owner, you are already going to be held liable if something on the truck breaks and it injures/kills somebody...doesn't really matter if you bought it or built it, it is still your baby! If you built it, it's because you built it. If you bought it, it is because you bought/spec'd a part that was inferior and not up to the task at hand. Either way, you're still being named as the defendant because your name is on the truck title.
It isn't that we think we're "perfect". We just have more important things to worry about than whether or not we'll be sued in the unlikely event that the part we just over-built happens to fail, because we're confident in our abilities and the work we do.
I'm pretty much done with this thread. Great job, EZ.granhawler, leftlanetruckin and Ezrider_48501 Thank this. -

Civil and respectful is the ONLY option folks..... Acting otherwise doesn't help anything..SAR, Ezrider_48501, Hurst and 5 others Thank this. -
So degradation and name calling is allowed on this forum, but the right to counter those responses are not? Also I take it that only certain members are allowed to voice their opinion.

How you got all that out of my post is way beyond me.
Bottom line is this, we work hard to enforce the rules of the site fairly. No one gets special treatment.
EVERYONE needs to post with respect towards others.....not just some of the members.
If you don't like the way we moderate the site you are free to find a site that is more in tune with your needs and expectations.
Since this thread is closed, feel free to PM if you need more clarification.Admin, sdaniel, d o g and 1 other person Thank this.
